Loco lose 3-0 to Kinson

Ferndown Locomotive were demolished 3-0 at the weekend by Kinson Conservative at King Geroge Fields, with the away side dominating proceedings all over the pitch.Man for the man they were stronger, they had more determination, and they were first to every ball. Loco were slow off the mark, and were punished early on, as a lack of communication resulted in Kinson gaining a free-kick. The kick was expertly dispatched by their midfielder, who curled it around the wall into the corner of the net - a well taken shot.
On 25 minutes there was a fracas involving one of the Kinson players and the ref. There was some foul and abusive language and this resulted in the away player being sent-off.
Effectively though, this made no difference to the game - Loco had a few chances here and there, but Kinson maintained control, and gained a well deserved second just before half-time.
The second half saw Loco have more of the ball, but they didn’t do anything with it - we made some in-roads, but for all the “atrractive” football we put together, we just didn’t produce a goal.
Kinson grabbed a third twenty minutes from the end, and also Kyle, Bomber and Andy all went close - the score remained 3-0.
It was a performance to really think about in many ways, however, the only way to answer our own failures, is by winning on Sunday against DBJ.
New Treasurer’s First Update

As most are probably aware, I have now taken over from Jon in the role of Treasurer. My first main task has been to update the ‘Who Owes What’ section and this is now done. This is mostly subs that are still owed from the Mazar’s game, can those who can please bring themeselves up to date on Sunday.
There are still a few players that still owe signing on fees - Will has paid £10 so still owes £5, Salva still owes £15 and has no excuses. Cash & Terry were not aware that a £15 signing on fee was due so apologies to them but I still need the money when possible.
As Rob quite rightly said, I can be a grumpy sod but it really winds me up when people know they have to pay subs and don’t bother to bring any money to games with them or disappear after the game without paying.
To quote a phrase from the Chairman “At this level of football you bring three things with you to a game - Your Boots, Shinpads and Subs. Everything else is down to individual preference”.
I totally agree with this statement and will be on the case when people owe money with no valid excuse.
On a lighter note, it was really refreshing yesterday to be handed a £20 note from Kyle without promting for his subs and signing on fee. This guy is only just 18 and still at school yet still parted with the money no questions asked.
An example to all I feel.
Proudest day in our history

Sunday November 20th sees Loco reach the pinnacle of their history. The day that we have worked towards for 4 years.Ask anyone in the Bournemouth area that has played Sunday League football about the top sides around, and I mean historically over a number of years, not just one season wonders, and you will invariably get the response “Parkbury”.
These boys are absolute giants in the BFA and I for one will be extremely proud of what we have achieved and how far we have come when we take to the field alongside them in 3 weeks time. It doesn’t come any bigger for us than this.
Its testiment to the work you’ve all put in over the last 4 years and now lets go out and do the club justice. In years to come I want people to talk about Loco in the same breath as Parkbury and Bournemouth Electric.

Last week in Loco’s 4-3 win against JP Morgan, Darren Mountifield was Man-of-the-Match. His performance was so encouraging, that he’s been named in the Starting Eleven this week.Through various injuries and absences Darren gained his chance after a period out through injury, and started on the left wing. As always, he gave 110% to the team, and was a work-horse on the left side of the park. He combined well with both Lee at left-back, and Sam in the centre of midfield - and similarly, he notched a great goal, and it could have been two with his cross-bar effort!
Darren has been out for a while with a dodgy knee, but, by taking his starting opportunity with full vigour, he’s earned himself a starting role in this weekends crunch match between Loco and Kinson Conservative.
Essentially, he’s done what Gareth Stewart has done for AFC Bournemouth. Mossy gets injured, Stewart comes in, and he takes his chance by really showing the boss what he’s capable of - and a result, he’s in the side on merit.
After a few games where our squad has been threadbare, Ferndown Locomotive now have the luxury of having 16 players available every game - and STILL not everyone is back from injury, with Will and Ali still sidelined. This means that on Sunday, 5 people will not start, and more unfortunately, two people will not play. As a team, we will continue to all work and train together - a repeat of the team ethic that saw us win the title in Division Seven, will see us do the same this year in Five.
Work hard and play hard, and you WILL be rewarded.

Home to Kinson Con, an inform team through on all cup comps recently beating First Capital. 4-0 in the Brivati, and beating Old Bournemouthians (2nd bottom div 3) 1-0 in the Robbins…They are currently 6th in the league with 2 wins 1 loss, 3 points behind us with a game in hand.
Injury Update:
Tug is back available fully fit as from this week, his back is now better after a good rest,
Ali, soon to be dubbed sick-note, still no word.
Will, groin strain was getting better I believe he strained it again climbing up trees last Sunday.
Team Available: Andy Darren Kenny Lee Mark Matt Mike Tug Rob Sam Scott Sean Stu Steve Cash Kyle.
This weeks game were home to Kinson Con an inform team through on all cup comps recently beating First Capital. 4-0 in the Brivatti, and beating Old Bournemouthians (2nd bottom div 3) 1-0 in the Robbins, currently 6th in the league with 2 wins 1 loss, 3 points behind us with a game in hand,
Its games like this we need to win, inforcing our league position, and sending out a message to other teams, were a team to respect.
Kinson beat DBJ Property last week 2-0 as we are playing DBJ next week in the Dorset Cup this game will give us an idea of what to expect.
This week if all players are available, we will have 16, leaving me as usual a selection nightmare, I will, as always be playing inform players, I want and will always select the best possible team. Players that find themselves on the bench need not worry, We have a long way to go this season, being through on all cup matches will add a lot more games to our playing tally this year, If we are serious about competing for Trophy’s it will take full commitment from everyone involved in our club.

Early start this Sunday

All players will be required to arrive for the game this week at 9.00 sharp - without exception - remember the CLOCKS GO BACK this weekend.First of all - don’t panic!! The clocks go back so really it will feel like 10.00 and this is a one-off, we hope.
Paul, Sam, Ian and I have come to the conclusion that a little session before the game this week will help us. Our performances have dipped lately and Ian felt from watching us that we were starting to forget a lot of the stuff we worked on pre-season.
Paul was fair to us all and agreed that we would not have weekly training sessions on the understanding that when training was required it was compulsory. For the first time this year Paul and Ian would like to implement something and given the “free” hour we get this Sunday it amkes sense todo it before the game.
From what I understand this will be a fairly relaxed simple session, nothing to tire us out before the game and is basically to recap on the stuff we did so well earlier in the year. I hope you will all appreciate its importance and realise that its an ideal opportunity to get us back up to the level we want to be at before what will be our hardest and most important game of the season so far.

The Locomotive site has been updated this morning with the latest league table, and also our Media Gallery has some action shots of the weekend cup win, courtesy of the Echo. The League table makes interesting reading, and it looks as though there will be a number of teams who will be up there this season. It’s not worth analysing it too much yet though - next week we MUST win against Kinson Conservative.
In the meantime click into the Media Gallery on the left and hit the top link, as Westy and Steve have been pictured in action for Loco, as there was a Daily Echo photographer present at the game on Sunday.
Elsewhere in Division Five this weekend, some resuls that the Echo decided to feature, included the following:
Pinocchio 4 - 3 Hollies
Christchurch Royals 9 - 5 First Capital Finance
AFC Stourvale 4 - 3 Shoulder of Mutton
More site updates during the week including a Captains Corner article, and also there will be a new section which tracks the progress of the Loco’s injured stars.
Loco bank Fourth Round tie

Ferndown Locomotive made difficult work of their Third Round cup game against JP Morgan on Sunday, however we emerged winners, in what was a very entertaining game for neutrals.Loco played the classic 4-4-2 formation, and we started off on the right foot, with some good football being played. We took the lead almost instantly when Andy Smith got on the end of a deep ball to the far post, firing home from close range with a defender up his back-side.
It was a good start by the home side, but once again we gifted some very silly goals to the opposition. Indeed, they netted two inside a ten minute spell. The first was were the Loco midfield were slow to the second ball, and their midfielder shot from 20 yards out and beat Mike with a superb strike from distance. The second came from a corner, where the ball was swung in, bounced, and their striker turned and half-volleyed home from close range - a very competent shot to put the Division Eight side into the lead.
Loco however resumed control of the game for the rest of the half. We were guilty often of trying to play through balls to the strikers, when every time it simply ran away on the slick pitch. It was a good moment of passing though that got us back on track, with Andy on the ball, he dinked inside onto his left foot, fired a shot against the keeper, who parried, and Kendall was on hand to coolly side-foot the ball home into the middle of the net.
On 38 minutes, we saw one of Loco’s attacks of the game, when Bomber and Dave combined well and Dave streamed forward running towards their full-back, stepped over the ball, and then laid the ball wide-to-the left to Darren, who side-footed a powerful shot into goal via the hands of the keeper, who really should have done better.
Darren nearly made it 4-2 seconds later when he shot from 25 yards and crashed the ball against the bar, an awesome effort.
At half-time, heads were down, however it was obvious where the mistakes were, and we aimed to put those right in the second half. To some extent, we did - as we were playing some really good football, however every so often there were moments of impatience, which gifted JP Morgan the ball straight back.
One of those moments when they had the ball saw them equalise! A good run from their left winger resulted in a powerful shot which beat Mike from an acute angle at the near post - very fortunate I think!
Loco however went back into the lead soon after, when some good work on the right resulted in a corner, and a bit of pinball occurred in the penalty box before Matt Folds came up and lashed the ball into the right corner of the net with his left boot - right place, right time.
Loco had chances to further the lead with Sam through on goal, which was saved by the keeper, a rasping left foot shot by Andy which just beat the apex of the goal frame, and another left footed strike by Sam which the keeper saved with relative ease.
Loco’s last piece of work was to defender a free-kick for JP Morgan, which hit the bar and went away! The final whistle then blew, and it was a sigh of relief for the home side, who really should have put the game to bed a lot sooner. Final Score: Loco 4 - 3 JP Morgan
A good Loco performance which was tainted by some individual errors. We needed to be patient at times, and sometimes we hoofed the ball forward rather than built up, which meant we were getting caught playing as two separate units - which then left their team with space to run in to. if we all play the short ball, and move up as a unit, as a result, teams like JP Morgan will find it harder to break our whole unit down as they’ll have less space.
Next week Loco are up against Kinson Conservatives. I’ve no doubt that this match would be a match that last season we would lose, next week, we can make sure we do things different.
Loco’s Dave Davis powers on

This week there was a positive announcement for Ferndown Locomotive as it was revealed that Dave Davis has been put through to the final vote for leadership of the Tories. It was at last seasons end-of-season meal where Loco’s Sean Barker finally realised that the club possessed a politician in its ranks. Indeed, Dave Davis is now in the running to be Tory leader, as it emerged that he is to be the one joining David Cameron in the final Conservative vote.
Mr Davis said a key test of any Tory policy had to be what it would do for the least well-off in society.
The two rivals will battle over the next six weeks to be named leader when the results are announced on 6 December.
However, the pre-season meal debacle has not been a positive escapade for the would-be leader Davis, and it seems to be sticking in the Loco players minds. In a recent straw poll taken amongst Ferndown playing staff, Davis’s competitor Cameron seemed to edge the vote, with 100% of the team voting for the younger candidate.
Despite the Loco support for his competitor, ousted Liam Fox admitted he was disappointed not to get through but bluntly refused to endorse either.
More news on Dave’s progress will be updated both here and on the BBC News web-site in the forthcoming weeks.
