3rd Round Robins Cup Meet at 930 fresh and ready to play, J P Morgan will be no easy game. We need a heads on game on Sunday its vital we progress into the next round of the Robbins.
We failed on Sunday with the very basics of football, holding shape, chasing the ball down if lost when caught in possession, attacking the ball, closing the opposition down.
On Sunday we allowed Collingdale to play football, They showed us no respect or fear, We let them think they could win, that’s inexcusable.
I know we won but it didn’t feel like it, It felt like we as a team had taken a huge step backwards. You may think I’m taking this far to seriously, I am! this year we have the best team, we have ever had, When we start playing as a team and playing well, then we will start to enjoy it more,We have a chance to win the league and possibly a cup. Its up to you guys to give the best performances you can and insure you stay part of a winning team.
The next few weeks are really important we need to get ready for the Dorset Cup, we are playing DBJ Property November the 6th, probably the hardest opposition we could of been drawn against. We win that game then it should be a fairly easy run to the final!

Kyle nets five in Loco rout

Locomotive made a meal out of their 5-3 win over PSC Collindale at King George on Sunday, however it was three much needed points against the league’s bottom side.It was a carbon-copy of the game last season at West Moors, where the opposition took the lead inside the first minute of the match – a long ball caught the Loco defence napping, leaving their striker the simple job of poking it home.
Loco brought it back to level terms though on 21 minutes when Kyle did some fancy footwork in the area to create some space for a left footed strike, and his shot went under the diving keeper, nestling in the bottom of the net.
Given the equaliser, and their recent record, it could have been expected that PSC would buckle, however they didn’t at all – indeed they scored within 5 minutes, a good shot from near the edge of the area after a long goalkeeping punt.
Loco were clowning about in all areas of the pitch, so once again it was left on the shoulders of boy-wonder to level the scores for us. Some good work from Sam Davis created a through ball to Kenny, who played the ball on to Mr Eaton, who passed the ball home from close range.
At half-time, words were said, and Loco came out for the second half with increased vigour and determination, but PSC once again upset the odds by scoring first. Our defence failed to clear, and their striker coolly fired home on the half-volley.
It took a while for Loco to equalise too, but it came eventually! Bomber played the ball inside to Sam who split the defence to give Bomber the return pass on the right, and then his square ball was bundled in by Kyle.
At 3-3, Loco were not going to let the game slip again, and before long it was 4-3, as some superb work from Rob Frank on the left, taking on a number of players to get to the byline, resulted in a good square ball to Kyle, who was patient and cool, and tucked the ball home into the corner of the net.
On 86 minutes, it was five, and Kyle fired a looping shot (maybe taking a deflection or two on the way) into the air, and over the PSC keeper.
In all, it was not a good performance. We were lacklusture, slow to every ball, we thought the game would play itself, we relied too much on everyone else – and we need to start playing for each other in order to have a successful chance this year. Next week, it’s the Cup – improvements will be made!!

Loco progressed to the next round of the Brivati on Sunday with a 6-0 win against Shoulder of Mutton. A good performance by the boys, which puts us in good stead for next week.In an eventful weekend fixture, Andy was the first to enjoy the legendary changing room ribbing at exactly 9.43am. He arrived late after caning it down the motorway from London. After a weekend mash-up in the capital, he woke up at 6.30am on the Sunday morning, and drove like the clappers back to sunny Bournemouth. However, the talented Loco midfielder shook off the banter by instantly persecuting Darren for his ‘white rolls’!!
Kenny was the next person to brave the storm. He arrived even later, at 9.56am, after his reliable motor wouldn’t start. Therefore he had to steal a car off a parent in order to make the fixture. It’s not the first time Kenny has suffered problems with his Metro – only two weeks before, the cars’ in-built GPS system landed him in the shite, as he took a full 20 minutes to find the Sandpiper pub after our 4-0 Cup win over West Park.
OK, this report is starting to ramble. Essentially, the match was not played this weekend due to the home side not being able to raise more than five players for the fixture. After a warm-up and stretch, the Loco boys had a kick-around before getting changed and going home.
Rumours have also been rife about the sides involvement in the league this season too, therefore it may turn out that our 4-3 win against them could expunged.
Our next FOUR matches are at home. Two matches in the cups, two in the league. Nothing but a 100% record is expected.

Stan in ball retrieval shocker

Locomotive’s newest recruit Will ‘Stanley’ Craig was involved in a shocking incident at the weekend during Ferndown’s match against Mazars…Will had been consigned to watching the match from the sidelines at the weekend due to a groin injury picked up from the previous weeks cup win at West Park Atheltic.
So, being a true Locoboy already, he ‘offered’ to run the line in both halves for the club, however it was a first half incident that sent shockwaves through the player.
On 28 minutes of the game at Heathlands (which as we all know, is located in the middle of practically nowhere), the ball was cleared by a Mazars defender into the adjacent field, which was home to a very friendly horse.
Offering to get the ball back, Will scrambled over the country fence, and then dodged another metal one in order to get the ball. On the way back though, he bumbled into the fence only two get two short-sharp electric pulses run through his body from the fence.
Upon feeling the electric current, the veteran Loco player exclaimed ‘F**k!’
The Official Ferndown Locomotive web-site will try to get more reaction from the player later in the week, and we’ll be adding him to our new ‘Crocked Corner’ section, which lists all players who have got injuries.
Loco suffer first defeat

Ferndown Locomotive suffered their first league defeat of the season on Sunday with a 1-0 defeat at Mazars. It was a difficult game – but it could’ve been worse! The match was played on the big pitch at Heathlands, which is probably as wide as our small West Moors pitch was long. It was a difficult game against a well-organised side who were used to playing on the cricket field of a pitch.
Loco started the better side, with some good possession, with Andy being utilised well on the right-wing, however we never really managed to get the killer ball into the box, and therefore Sean and Kenny were left redundant up front with not much to do.
Mazars were a ‘good’ side. They kept the ball relatively well, and had a couple of pacy strikers, who, if they had their shooting boots on during the day, could have won the game easily.
They took the lead towards the end of the first half when a deep cross-come-shot could only be palmed away into the path of their nippy striker, who tucked the ball home into the net from close range.
Loco never really rallied – there was a lot of work to do all over the pitch, however it was clear that we were a tired set of lads. Mazars were quick to break, and were well organised at the back, meaning it was difficult to cut through them.
Indeed our only opportunity came in the last minute when a fierce shot was palmed away by their keeper, and a mixture of Kenny and Andy nearly followed up on the rebound, however one of their defenders was quick to react, and scrambled it away for a corner.
Terry Ingram had a very good game in goal for Loco, and he put in a number of excellent saves, including a couple of 1-on-1′s, and had it not been for him, we could have been looking at a heavier defeat.
There are a lot of things that the loss can be put down to. However, for now, we’ve got a Cup match to play next week, and then its back to the League after that. Ideally it’d be the other way round, however a good showing next week can hopefully put performances like this to the very backs of our minds!
It must be remembered that when we won the league a couple of seasons back, we all pulled together with the same squad week in week out – and yes, we lost a number of matches too. We just need to ensure that this game was a one-off, and we can go on to put a few wins together to get us up the top of the table on a weekly basis.

Just a quick note on my initial thoughts, but without dissecting the game, which I’ll leave to PaulObviously a disappointing result but as I said last week in my column the real test of this side will come when we lose our 100% record and how we react to it.
There is no cause for panic. We came up against a very good side who we knew would be there or thereabouts at the end of the season and ran them close. We have never got to grips with that pitch, its not a happy hunting ground for us.
Finding positives is not easy in a game where we created little and looked disjointed, but we must keep our heads up lads, nex week is a crucial game in a cup we must be one of the favourites to win.
