Loco stalwart Jon Sharkey is raising money for AFC Bournemouth and people like Robin Folds, and if you’d like to sponsor him running the London Marathon, read on.Jon Sharkey, who now works for the the Cherries, as well as being one of the most capped Loco players, will be splitting money he raises between two very worthwhile causes:

The first is for the charity Help the Aged and the work they do to defeat ageism around the country, including within our local area; helping to improve quality of life amongst elderly people.

The second part of the fundraising will see funds going directly to the pitch at AFC Bournemouth, helping groundsman Dave Edwards to create the best possible surface for the team to play on - a better surface will see the team playing better football and will benefit fans’ enjoyment of watching the Cherries play.

Jon has to raise a minimum of ?1,200 over the next month and you can help by sponsoring him directly - visit his site and sponsor him on-line here.

Donating through the site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor Jon: Help the Aged will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. For example, if you gave ?20, this would mean that an extra ?5.64 would be given to this worthy cause by the Government!

Locomotive T&D wish Jon all the best, and will be getting some exclusive quotes from the chap through his marathon campaign.

Rob Frank ponders Sunday team

In an exclusive interview with the Locomotive Touch and Dive web-site, caretaker manager Rob Frank has been “pondering”. Here’s the latest…After Frank was successful in changing the formation of the Loco side on Sunday after holding Vienna to a 0-0 scoreline after 154 minutes of play, the Muscliff based manager is again thinking ahead to our next encounter.

On Sunday we travel to Magpies and Woolsbridge at Heathlands with a squad of 16 strong players. Rob said: “We need everyone at the ground 9.45 absolute latest”. It is believed that Rob is planning something different this week, however he said the side will not have any problems with adjusting.

Rob told Locoboys.co.uk that everyone demonstrated at the weekend just how adaptable we all are as a side: “I had a real concern that asking players to do something completely new with no preparation was a bit much, but everyone took on board exactly what their role was”.

He added: “Even when we moved about a bit second half and players switched positions they played the formation perfectly, so I was more annoyed the players didn’t get the rewards that they deserved for their effort than anything else”.

Without wanting to publish too much information, Rob did not delve into detail, however all will be revealed on Sunday morning at Heathlands. Please note we are meeting at the Cooper Dean pub at 09:15, with the confirmed exceptions of: Stu, Steve, Scott, and Sean. Please inform Sam or Rob that you are going straight there if not.

Weekend match report has been added. It wasn’t a very eventful game in terms of chances on goal, but we tried to make it exciting honest. Snaps included in the report of Sean eating, and Bomber looking gay.

Glossary…
More Loco terms have been added into the mix, including the now legendary Plastic Dave, and Ron Manager. ANy more phrases would be greatly welcomed. Please tell our Player Rep immediately.

Pictures from Paul’s wedding reception are now online with more to come. Similarly we hope to gt a few from Ali’s wedding online later in the week. Both weddings had a good Loco turn-out. Well done all.

Vote of the Week…
This week we have been voting on whether the side will miss Paul while he’s away on honey-moon. Hurry up and vote before he comes back, because then we’ll get rid of it and put another one up. Cheers

Loco move to King George

It was announced on Sunday that Loco are changing our home ground with immediate effect, therefore the muddy cess-pit at West Moors will be no more…The Division Five Sunday side are moving to King George Fields in Ferndown. This decision was an easy one to make after the problems which have occurred ever since the incident at the end of last season at the Fryers Field pitches, which saw thieves ransack changing rooms. Ever since this event, the club have been under pressure from the other clubs which play at the venue, and although Loco were exonerated from any wrong-doings, club management have decided to pull away from the venue.

The advantages of moving to the new venue are clear for all to see. The pitches are more accessible for traffic, and include ample parking too in safe surroundings. Similarly, the pitches are of premium quality, and much much better than many other pitches around Bournemouth and Poole. Also, the weekly price of the pitch fees is less, and similarly all netting and corner flags will be in place before games - meaning we just have to turn up and play.

Our new local will be the Pure Drop. The Tap and Railway, although they provided us with free food on all of ONE occasion, could not supply a regular lunch-time bowl of chips for Loco due to Sunday lunchtime demand being very high. It is hoped the Pure Drop will be able to supply us with something similar.

Ferndown has been a happy hunting ground for Loco, and it was a 1-1 draw with top-side Chianti at the end of the 2002/2003 season which saw a turning point for the club. Rob’s 40 yard goal that night was all-too deserved and the side went on to finish the season with form which was promotion worthy. It is hoped the smooth surface will allow Loco’s unique brand of “total football” to continue, and for it to be the home of further success.

Sharkey collared as bone snaps

Jon Sharkey will be out of action for the Loco for a substantial period after he broke his clavicle in an unknown incident on Tuesday night. The Loco news-desk learned of Jons fate, and wishes him a speedy recovery. It is understood that the incident took place in Wareham, and it was a while before Jon realised that he had done it.

The clavicle (collar bone) is one of the most commonly fractured bones. It acts like a strut between the breast bone in the center of the chest and the shoulder bones. It is very close to the skin and can be injured in a variety of ways.

A hospital visit on the following morning should have given him some idea as to how long he will be out for. Locoboys.co.uk will bring you news on this as an when.

The most common ways to break the clavicle (collar bone) are via a fall or from a direct blow to the bone. Almost any sport can be associated with clavicle (collar bone) fractures. Football, rugby and hockey are the most common.

A collar bone fracture is diagnosed with a history of a fall associated with pain and deformity around the shoulder. Typically, there is some swelling and tenderness associated with the fracture. X-rays are used to confirm the fracture. Rarely, further investigation by an CT scan may be needed.

Loco stunned by shock return

This weekend, the Loco welcomed back an old figure to the squad. It was a much needed boost, and it didnt take long before they were integrated back into the club…Thats right, Tugs girlfriend Andrea returned this weekend to support the home side and give some much needed encouragement to Locomotive. However, as good as it was to have her back, T&D could not supply the result that she craved.

So, with the home side losing 2-0 in a game which we really should have won - Loco were cursing their luck after the match. However, always being at the fore-front of fresh ideas, player Rep Sean Barker make sure that all was not lost…

Salva, Locos all time top-striker, proved that his ability to score was not only on the pitch, but also off it too - as this pictorial evidence proves from Sunday afternoon in the Tap and Railway…

Loco News in Brief

Tomorrow’s AFC Winton league match is off, we have drawn Mazars in the Robbins Cup and news on the disciplinary front. Good job as Bomber would be hungover anyway…The torrential rain has swept through West Moors meaning no game for Loco on halloween and no real need to worry about the clocks going back. Whose out on the lash tonight then?

Loco have been drawn against Division Six side Mazars in the next round of the Robbins Cup. Mazars have only played two league fixtures this season, but have picked up six points in the process and have a 100% record in all three Bournemouth FA Competitions. They are still in the Brivati having beaten Hollies (Div 6) and Shoulder of Mutton (Div 5).

In the Robbins they have beaten InExcess (Div 3, but bottom with no points) and AFC Westvale (Div 5) to earn a tie against the Loco.

The paperwork to confirm that Sharkey’s red card has been downgraded to a yellow has arrived at Rob’s place.

Salva asked yesterday why there had been no updates. The suggestion was that there had been nothing worth updating, so lets put that right…But he did come back and mention the awards evening end of season dinner at Lorenzo’s.

Instead of a complete rundown of everything that Salva won it has been decided to show a picture of the last person he talked through his awards with.

Meanwhile the Loco team attended an ‘all they’ll make’ curry evening at The Pure Drop last night. Sharkey had a strange (but this time sober) sense deja-vu in spending five minutes fishing through the sauce looking for some meat in the Chicken Tikka while an un-named member of the fan club left his pregnant fianc?e to clear up a split pint of Guiness while he rushed to the bar to buy another.

Anyone yet to pick up their Championship medals speak to Rob and he’ll arrange something. The fan club page has been updated and if rumours are to be believed that picture may find its way to the profiles page by the start of the season.
