Mat joined Ferndown Locomotive in the successful 2007/08 season which saw the Ferndown side get promoted to Hayward League Division Three. Mat is club captain for Loco and has a quiet authority at the back, where he is very assured and confident.

You’ll often find him telling the treasurer tha the hasn’t got a fiver in his wallet and that they can can claim it off him in the pub afterwards, which to be fair, is usually true to his word.

He is a right-footed player but is verstaile, is good in the air, and isn’t afraid to put in a strong tackle on the pitch. He was one of the performers throughout the promotion winning season, and he will almost certainly form part of the defence that looks to take on Division Three this season.

Mat often joins in which the Polish bashing of Chris Hopkins, which the Ferndown squad find very amusing…
